Reset via Gamepad

The reset-via-gamepad feature lets you reset the PlayStation and return to the ArcStation menu by pressing one of the following button combos on the controller:

  • + +
  • + +

The active combo depends on what you select in Settings.

During gameplay, ArcStation does not actively poll the gamepad, because that could interfere with the game. Instead, it passively listens for gamepad replies to the game’s own poll requests. This means:

  • If a game is not polling the gamepad, ArcStation can’t detect the reset button combo.
  • This can happen if a game is frozen/crashed, or in sections where it temporarily doesn’t poll the controller (for example, some loading screens).

If you press the console’s physical Reset button while in-game, the console will typically reboot back into the game, not into the ArcStation menu.

If the button combo does not reset the PlayStation, check the following:

  • Reset via Gamepad in Settings is not set to Off.
  • You are using an original PlayStation controller or a DualShock controller. Third-party controllers were not tested and may not work.
  • The POWER cable is connected to ArcStation. See Cables for connection requirements.
